Uses
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic (for use in the eyes) is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye.
You should not use moxifloxacin ophthalmic if you have a fungal or viral infection in your eyes (including herpes simplex).
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Keep using this medicine even if your symptoms quickly improve. Skipping doses could make your infection resistant to medication. Moxifloxacin ophthalmic will not treat a viral infection.
Wash your hands before using eye medication.
To apply the eye drops: Pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket and squeeze a drop into this pocket. Close your eyes for 1 or 2 minutes.
Use only the prescribed number of drops.
Do not touch the dropper tip or place it directly on your eye. A contaminated dropper can infect your eye and lead to serious vision problems.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse. Do not use this medicine longer than prescribed.
Store at room temperature, in an upright position and tightly closed. Do not freeze.
You should not use moxifloxacin ophthalmic if you are allergic to moxifloxacin or similar medicines such as:
ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, or others.
Tell your doctor if you wear contact lenses.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
